LaVerna Bobbitt Clapp

Mrs. LaVerna Bobbitt Clapp, 82, of Winston-Salem, passed away on Monday, July 30, 2012 at Kate B. Reynolds Hospice Home. Mrs. Clapp was born on April 16, 1930 in Sanford, NC to the late James Herbert and Cornelia Smith Bobbitt. She served as a volunteer at the patient information desk at Baptist Hospital for many years. In 1984, she became the Food Services Director at Ardmore Baptist Church where she lovingly served many in the Ardmore community and beyond until her retirement in 2004. She also loved caring for the babies in the Ardmore Baptist Church Sunday morning nursery and was deeply committed to missions through WMU. Mrs. Clapp was preceded in death along with her parents by a sister, Betsy Baker. Mrs. Clapp is survived by her husband, Alvin M. Clapp of the home; two daughters, Carol Lemke (Steve) of New Orleans, Louisiana and Cathy Byman (Ed) of Raleigh, NC; three grandsons, Austin Lemke of New Orleans, Louisiana, Logan Byman of Raleigh, NC and Michael Byman of Raleigh, NC; and two brothers, Jim Bobbitt (Mary Ellen) of Cape Carteret, NC and R.H. Bobbitt (Pat) of Easley, SC. A memorial service will be conducted at 2:00 PM on Thursday, August 2, 2012 at Ardmore Baptist Church with Rev. Ty Talton and Rev. Christa Warise officiating. The family will receive friends after the service at the church.
