Ms. Lavelle Fishel Cooper, 81, of Winston-Salem passed away Wednesday, January 7, 2009 at Kate B. Reynolds Hospice Home. She was born January 12, 1927 in Forsyth County to Robah and Pearl Essick Fishel. Ms. Cooper was of the Baptist faith. She was retired from R.J. Reynolds Tobacco Co. with 29 years of service. She was a loving mother and grandmother. She was preceded in death by her parents; a son, Steven R. Scott; and a brother, Mickey Fishel. Surviving are two sons, Stuart C. Scott of Winston-Salem and Del Cooper and wife Linda of Mocksville; five grandchildren, Matthew Scott, Eric Scott, Chad Cooper, Brittany Cooper and Megan Cooper; one stepdaughter, Patricia Boles and husband Wes of Pensacola, FL; two step grandchildren, Michelle Lewis and Michael Boles; one sister, Wilma Essick and husband T of Kernersville; two brothers, R.J. Fishel and wife Leona of Clemmons and Rev. Charles Fishel and wife Ann of Winston-Salem. Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m. Saturday, January 10 at Hayworth-Miller Silas Creek Chapel with the Rev. Charles Fishel officiating. Burial will follow in Friedberg Moravian Church Graveyard. The family will receive friends from 6-8 p.m. Friday at the funeral home. Memorials may be made to Kate B.
