Mrs. Laurette Elizabeth (Smith) Hensley, 86, of 332 Burkewood Dr. Winston-Salem, NC. passed away Sunday, October 20, 2008, at The Kate B. Reynolds Hospice Center in Winston-Salem. Mrs. Hensley was born Aug, 2, 1922, to the late George and Sally Markland of Davie County. She married the late Robert Edward Hensley (known as; Floss or Curley) of Winston-Salem. Mrs. Hensley was known as ""the prettiest girl in Hanes Town"" where they lived and raised their family. After raising her family, Mrs. Hensley realized a lifelong dream of becoming a licensed CNA providing private duty nursing. She is preceded in death by a son, Robert Edward Hensley, Jr. (Bro) and son, Dr. Donald Leo Hensley of Reno, NV. Survivors are daughter: Mrs. Betty H. Crews of Davie County and grandson, David Milton Crews of Davie County and Great Granddaughter, Britney Leigh Crews. Sister, Mrs. Carolyn Sparks, of Burlington, NC. Favorite niece, Rosemary (Pete) Pruitt, of CA. Niece, Mrs. Gail Fulbright, of High Rock, NC and Mrs. Katherine Wood of Winston-Salem, NC. A funeral service will be held at 2:00 pm Wednesday, October 22, 2008 at West Side Baptist Church, S. Peachaven Rd., Winston-Salem, officiated by Rev. Dr. William V. Campbell, Sr. A graveside service will follow at Forsyth Memorial Park, Yadkinville Rd. Winston-Salem.
