Laura Beth Smith Spivey passed away on Sunday, May 11 2014, at Forsyth Medical Center
She was born December 8, 1945, in Fayetteville, NC to Donald Albert and Mary Jane Brothers Smith.
She received her education at RJ Reynolds High School, Appalachian State University, and graduated from Salem College. She was an active member of Centenary United Methodist Church, where she served on the administrative board, was a member of Circle 9, and volunteered for Loaves & Fishes. She retired from Wachovia Bank.
She was preceded in death by her parents. She is survived by her husband, James N. Spivey, Jr. (Jim) of the home, and children James N. Spivey, III (Jay) and William Cullen Spivey of Huntersville, sister Carolyn Smith Culler, and brother Donald A. Smith Jr. (Leslie) of Winston-Salem. In addition, she is survived by her niece Mirinda Hancock DeLano (Jason) of Huntersville, nephews William Howell Smith of Columbia, Parker Hedrick Smith, and Jackson McLean Smith of Winston-Salem, her sister in law Norma Jean Workman and her children Brian Yokley and Holly Davis, brother in law Doug Spivey (Cheryl) and their daughter Sara Green and Beau Spivey, as well as aunts, uncles, and cousins.
A ""Celebration of Life"" service will be held in her memory at 4 PM Thursday, May 15, 2014, at Centenary United Methodist Church, and will be led by the Rev. Craig Ford. After the service, the family will meet with friends in the church auditorium. A private inurnment service will be held at Centenary United Methodist Church.
