Laura Jones Nuckles

SUMMERFIELD-Laura Jones Nuckles, 84, passed away Saturday, December 11, 2010, at Wesley Long Memorial Hospital. She was born on August 5, 1926, in Guilford County, to the late Suttle Webster and Laura Jane Miller Jones. Laura retired from Guilford Mills with over 40 years of service and was a member of Smith Grove Baptist Church. She was preceded in death by her husband of 22 years, James Sanford Nuckles; a stepson, Dan Thomas Nuckles; a stepdaughter, Peggy Nuckles Bowman; and two brothers, Commodore and David Jones. Surviving are three daughters, Patricia Jane Johnson (Donald) of Dugspur, VA, Ruby Nuckles Lawrence (Tommy) of Summerfield and Kathleen Nuckles Thomason (Edward) of Raleigh; a stepdaughter, Lorene Nuckles Robertson, of High Point; one son, James Sanford Nuckles, Jr (Dianne) of High Point; one brother, Lawrence M. Jones (Helen) of High Point; 15 grandchildren; 24 great grandchildren and 4 great-great grandchildren. A graveside service will be conducted Tuesday, December 14, 2010, at 11:00 a.m. at Sandy Ridge Cemetery in Colfax with Rev. David Johnson officiating. The family will receive friends Monday, December 13, from 6:30-8:30 p.m. at Hayworth-Miller Funeral Home Kernersville Chapel and other times at the home of James Nuckles, Jr. Memorials may be made to the American Cancer Society, 4-A Oak Branch Drive, Greensboro, NC 27407.
