Miss Laura J. Gendy of Raleigh, age 33, departed on Saturday, August 16, 2008. She was born in Winston-Salem, North Carolina on Jan. 14, 1975, to Moheb (Moe) and Soheir (Sue) Gendy of Clemmons. She was the sister of Peter Gendy of Charlotte. Laura is survived by uncles, aunts, and cousins in the United States, Australia, and Egypt. She was a faithful member of Holy Family Catholic Church in Clemmons. Laura graduated from Bishop McGuinness High School in Winston-Salem in 1992. She received her undergraduate degree from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill in 1996. She received her Juris Doctor Law degree from Wake Forest University in 2000. She started her professional career as a clerk for North Carolina Court of Appeal Judge Horton. For the last 6 years she was working as an Assistant Attorney General of North Carolina in Raleigh. Visitation will be held on Tuesday, August 19 from 6 to 8 PM at Hayworth-Miller Funeral Home on Silas Creek Pkwy in Winston-Salem. The funeral mass will be conducted 2:00 P.M. Wednesday, August 20, 2008 at Holy Family Catholic Church of Clemmons. Burial will follow in the West Lawn Gardens of Memory cemetery in Clemmons. Services will be officiated by Father Michael Butner. The family wishes to thank the doctors and staff of Duke University Medical Center and Carolina Medical Center in Charlotte for all the care they provided to Laura.
