Laura C. Eaton

Laura C. Eaton, 87, went home to her Lord and Savior on Monday, September 7, 2015 at the Kate B. Reynolds Hospice Home. She was born April 6, 1928 in Winston-Salem to the late Raymond T. Cockerham and Stella Viola Zapka. She spent her time raising six children and caring for her family. She was employed by Sears in Fine Jewelry from 1989 to 2004. She was a member of Wesley Memorial United Methodist Church. Preceding her in death was her husband, Ralph W. Eaton, Sr. and her husband, J. Norman Hunt; two half-brothers, Howard Cockerham and Johnny Zapka. Surviving are six children, Wayne Eaton, Jr. and wife, Sharon of Fayetteville, son, Mike Eaton and wife, Kathy of Moore, SC, daughter, Deborah Norris of Winston-Salem, daughter, Denise Frost of Advance, daughter, Diane Bullard and husband, Tony of Sanford, and a son, J.D. Eaton and wife, Tricia of Jackson, Missouri; 12 grandchildren; 17 great-grandchildren; sister, Nancy C. Johnson of Washington, D.C.; half-sister, Teresa Coppley and half-brother, Dennis Cockerham. A funeral service will be held 11:00 AM Friday, September 11, 2015 at Wesley Memorial United Methodist Church with Rev. Charles Turner officiating. Burial will follow at Forsyth Memorial Park. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service at the church. Flowers will be accepted or memorials may be made to Wesley Memorial United Methodist Church, 1210 Bolton St., Winston-Salem, NC 27103.
