Laura M. Byrum Bame went home to be with her Lord and Savior on Thursday, January 27th, 2022. She was the victim of a tragic accident in the home. Laura was preceded in death by her grandparents, Bill and Renie Smith of Charlotte, and Frank and Mary Byrum of High Point. Laura is survived by her husband of nearly 33 years Chris Bame of the home, her mother Melinda Marshall (Freddie) of Greensboro, her father Jerry Byrum of Greensboro, her mother -in-law Betty Bame of Colfax, her brother Scott Byrum (Algene)of Tifton, GA, her sister Susan Hay (Jason) of Fort Collins, CO, her brother Grant Byrum (Candice) of Alpharetta, GA, her brother-in-law Joel Bame (Joanne) of Yadkinville and many special aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces and nephews. Laura graduated from Northwest Guilford High School in 1984. She then attended and graduated from Appalachian State University in 1988, where she earned a Bachelor’s degree in media advertising. She was employed 11years by American Express. She later returned to school at Guilford Technical Community College where she received her degree in Dental Hygiene in 2007. She then began working as a hygienist and did so for 9 years. She spoke often of how the rapport with her patients was the favorite part of her job. She loved her patients. After Laura left hygiene, she began her career of being an Etsy shop owner. She loved making beautiful handmade vintage style “junk” journals. She truly had a passion for making journals and made online videos to share with all who shared her passion. She sold her journals and supplies in her shop, The Papered Soul. Laura was a very kind, caring, empathetic and loving person. She loved all her family, including all of her “fur babies”. Laura would want everyone to know her babies names are Figgy, Louie, Pippin and Chloe. One cannot think of Laura and not think about her cats. She was a self-described “crazy cat lady”, a badge she wore proudly. She also loved her Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. This was apparent in the way she lived her life and from her many entries and writings in her prayer journals. She will be greatly missed by all who knew her, but by none more than her best friend and husband Chris.
A celebration of life will be held 11:00 AM Saturday, February 5, 2022, at Hayworth Miller Kernersville Chapel, 3950 Macy Grove Rd, Kernersville with Pastor Bruce Freeman officiating.
