Larry Russell West

Mr. Larry Russell West, age 64 of Winston-Salem, passed away Monday, April 4, 2011 at his home in Winston-Salem. Larry was born February 1, 1947 and lived all of his life in Winston-Salem. He proudly served his country in the United States Army during Vietnam. He was employed by R.J. Reynolds for 33 years before retiring in 2003 and was a member of Woodland Baptist Church in Winston-Salem. Larrys wife and son were the love of his life. He will be greatly missed by all who knew him. Larry was preceded in death by his parents, Wilburn R. and Margie L. West. Surviving is his loving wife of 43 years of marriage, Wilma Whisenhunt West of the home. One dear son, Daniel Brent West and wife Jill of Rural Hall. Papas two grandchildren; Katelyn and Preston West. One sister, Donna (Randy) Holler of Winston-Salem. His mother-in-law, Pearl Whisenhunt also of Winston-Salem. A sister-in-law, Sylvia (Harold) Groce of King. Four brothers-in-law; Mark (Jannette) Whisenhunt of Winston-Salem, Jimmy (Loretta) Whisenhunt of Yadkinville, Donnie (Rhonda) Whisenhunt of Pinnacle and Clifton Jr. (Rita) of Clemmons. Several nieces and nephews. Funeral services will be held Thursday, April 7, 2011 at 11:00 A.M. at Woodland Baptist Church in Winston-Salem by Pastor Tim Gammons. Burial will follow at Gardens of Memory in Walkertown with military burial honors conducted by the American Legion Post 290 of King. The family will receive friends at Hayworth-Miller Funeral Home in Rural Hall Wednesday evening April 6 from 6:00 until 8:00 P.M. Flowers will be accepted or memorials may be made to Woodland Baptist Church Building Fund, 1175 Bethania Rural Hall Road, Winston-Salem, NC 27106.
