Larry “Wayne” Hauser, 81, passed away on Saturday, November 4, 2023 at Kate B. Reynolds Hospice Home in Winston-Salem.
Wayne was born in Clemmons, NC and grew up in Hanestown. He proudly served in the United States Navy for 21 years, first as a Submariner and then in the Navy Seabees. He retired from the U.S. Postal Service with 36 years of service.
Wayne is survived by his loving wife of 55 years Evelyn Black Hauser; daughter, Caroline Anderson (Mark) and grandson, Leland; sister, Tammy Pruitt (Charles); brother, Charles Hauser (Martha); and numerous nieces and nephews.
The light of his life was his grandson, Leland. He practically raised him from the day he was born being the babysitter, taking him every day to eat lunch, go to the park and anywhere he could show him off.
Wayne was actively involved in the National Association of Letter Carriers where he served as secretary-treasurer for many years. He was also president of the Fleet Reserve Association for many years.
The family will receive friends on Tuesday, November 7, 2023 from 6:00 PM – 8:00 PM at Hayworth-Miller Silas Creek. A funeral service will be held the next day, Wednesday, November 8, 2023, at 2:00 PM at Hayworth-Miller Silas Creek Chapel. Burial will take place later in the week on Friday, November 10, 2023 at Salisbury National Cemetery.
