Larry fought a long and hard battle with Multiple Myeloma and Prostate Cancer for many years before losing the battle with these dreadful, terminal, and incurable cancers. He was one to never give up and served as a great inspiration to many facing this decease and other cancers. He always said he had cancer, but it did not have him.
Survivors include his beloved wife of many years (08/21/1965) Barbara Sprinkle; and little, loving, canine companion "Baby Bear"; one son, Dan Robert Sprinkle and wife Lisa of Thomson, GA; four grandsons, Dan Robert, Jr. and wife Christina of Thomson, GA, Chris Sprinkle of Mitchell, GA, Nick Sprinkle of Michigan, and Pastor Matthew Sprinkle and wife Kari of Sumter, SC; 14 great-grandchildren; one brother, Phillip Ball and Wife Eileen of Cornelius, NC; one sister, Vickie Blair and husband John of Troutman, NC; and many loved nieces nephews and friends.
Larry was "salesman extraordinaire" and an excellent professional sales, marketing, and operations executive. He was with Duke Power for 30 years and 7 days and for 14 of those 30 years managed and directed Duke Power's 98 retail stores where his team established record sales and profits each year.
In his second career, he was Vice President of Sales and Operations with Coastline Distribution and Tradewinds Distribution, Mid-Atlantic Region based in Charlotte, NC, a Division of Watsco Inc., the largest HVAC Distributor, serving for 11 years managing their sales and operations from Georgia to Maryland.
After retirement there, he assisted Dealer Supply of Atlanta, GA, in establishing their HVAC Distribution Sales and Operation in North and South Carolina.
Larry served on the North Carolina Manufactured Housing Institute board of Directors from 1973-1975; Lake Norman Chamber of Commerce Board of Directors; Lake Norman Chamber of Commerce awarded him Business Person of the year for Cornelius, Davidson, and Huntersville in 1993; Charter member of New Beginnings Moravian Church serving on their first Board of Directors as Treasurer; and he served on BB&T's Charlotte and Lake Norman local Board of Directors from 1993 until 2011.
The family requests that any memorial contributions be made to New Beginnings Moravian Church and/or the Levine Cancer Institute through the Carolinas Healthcare Foundation of Charlotte, NC.
The family expresses their gratitude and appreciation for the excellent care and treatment given to Larry by Dr. Saad Usmani, Mallory Rodgers Tucker, his Nurse's Advocate, Kim Walden, and the entire professional oncology medical team at the Levine Cancer Institute of Charlotte, NC.
Larry's favorite song was "My Way" by Frank Sinatra and that is the way he lived it touching the lives of so many people he loved and that loved him. He believed and would say "I have fought the good fight, I have finished the race, I have kept the faith" - II Timothy 4:7. I never gave up, I had cancer, but cancer did not have me!
