Mr. Larry David Rushing, 61, of Winston-Salem passed away unexpectedly Monday, November 2, 2009 at his home. He was born January 6, 1948 in Forsyth County to Raymond David and Myrtle Callahan Rushing, who preceded him in death. Mr. Rushing was retired from Stroh's Brewery with 28 years of service. He was a member of New Friendship Baptist Church. He loved taking care of his four horses. He also loved spoiling his grandchildren. He enjoyed working in his garden, fishing, and bringing in every stray animal that he could. He also loved to cook for his family. Surviving are four daughters, Angela Dawn Soles of Lexington, Eugenia Lynn Watson of Winston-Salem, Tonya Renee Laine and husband Tinker of Thomasville, and Carla Michelle Rushing of Winston-Salem; two sons, Rodney David Rushing and Brian Jeffery Rushing, both of Winston-Salem; six grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; and three aunts. A graveside service will be conducted at 2:00 p.m. Friday, November 6 at New Friendship Baptist Church Cemetery with the Rev. Chris Byrne officiating. The family will receive friends from 6-8 p.m. Thursday, November 5 at Hayworth-Miller Silas Creek Chapel. Memorials may be made to New Friendship Baptist Church, 4258 Old Lexington Rd., Winston-Salem, NC 27107.
