Larry Wayne Posey

Rev. Larry Wayne Posey, age 74 of Clemmons, NC passed away Friday, November 11, 2016 at Forsyth Medical Center. He was born November 5, 1942 in Winston-Salem, NC to George and Stella Temples Posey. Rev. Posey was a member of Center Grove Baptist Church in Clemmons, NC and served the Lord faithfully as an active minister for 34 years serving Bethany Place Baptist Church, Richmond VA., Emmanuel Baptist Church, Manassas, VA., Western Branch Baptist Church, Portsmouth, VA., First Baptist Church, Pound, VA. and Grove Avenue Baptist Church, Richmond, VA.. In addition to serving his local church, he served in International Missions in nine countries. He labored all hours of the day and night serving the Lord through serving others. The needs of his church family were always first in his life. He was a faithful husband and father and he will be greatly missed. Rev. Posey is preceded in death by his parents and one brother, George Lee Posey. He is survived by his wife of 52 years, Janet Speeks Posey of Richmond, VA;, one daughter, Tanya P. Askew (Jonathan) of Port Huron, MI.; three granddaughters, Cassidy, Olivia and Alexis; three sisters, Della Craver, Phyliss Walker and Linda Strickland (Jim); one brother, Grady Posey (Delilah); one sister-in-law, Helen Posey and several nieces and nephews. A funeral service will be conducted at 1:00 PM, Monday, November 14, 2016 at Center Grove Baptist Church by Pastor John Roland. Burial will follow in Westlawn Gardens of Memory.
