Mr. Larry Dean Martin, 82, of Winston-Salem passed away Monday, September 18, 2017.

Larry was born March 30, 1935 in Forsyth County to Clifton and Eva Martin. He attended Hanes High School and worked for many years for AT&T in the receiving department. In his free time, Larry was a big sports fan and enjoyed watching NASCAR. One of his favorite things to do was walking at the mall and socializing with his friends there. He never met a stranger. In addition to his parents, Larry was preceded in death by his sister, Sandra Martin, brother, Kent Martin, and sister in law, Vivian Martin.

Larry is survived by his wife of 50 years, Barbara Oakley Martin; daughter, Dena Martin; grandchildren, Gillian and Lincoln; sister, Sharon Estep and husband Steve; brother, Ronnie Martin; sister in law, Angie Martin; brother in law, Ray Oakley; nieces, Wendy Minor (Kim), Jody Flemming (Barry) and Piper Mills (Bobby); nephew, Lee M. Estep; and several grand-nieces and grand-nephews.

A celebration of Larry's life will be held Thursday, September 21, 2017 at 12 PM at Hayworth-Miller Silas Creek Chapel. Interment will follow the service at 2:30 PM at Northview Primitive Baptist Church Cemetery in Danbury, NC. The family will receive friends Wednesday, September 20, 2017 from 6 - 8 pm at Hayworth-Miller Silas Creek Chapel.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to Ronald McDonald House of Winston-Salem, 419 S Hawthorne Road, Winston-Salem, NC 27103 or the organization of the donor's choice.
