Larry Kendall Jones

Mr. Larry Kendall Jones, 72, of Winston-Salem passed away Sunday, October 24, 2010 at his residence. Mr. Jones was born in Surry County to Bill and Beulah Smith Jones on April 29, 1938. He retired from R.J. Reynolds as an Archer Trainer with 30 years of service and served in the U.S. National Guard for 12 years. He was a long-time member of College Park Baptist Church where he participated on the transportation committee. Mr. Jones was a member of Old Town Lodge 52 as a 32nd degree Mason in the Scottish Right. He was a member of Pinebrook Country Club, not only showing his love of golf on the course, but also at the Crosby where he served as Director of Golf Operations for the length of the series. Mr. Jones also enjoyed watching football and NASCAR, showing special interest in Richard Petty. He will also be remembered as a wonderful care taker to many Bassett Hounds. He was preceded in death by his parents. Mr. Jones is survived by his loving wife of 52 years, Jean Brown Jones; a brother -in-law, Robert ""Allan"" Brown and wife Lola of Winston-Salem; a nephew, Mike Brown and wife Laurie of Winston-Salem; two nieces, Karon Duquemin and husband Charles ""Chaz"" of Charlotte and Sandra Ingram and husband Mike of Winston-Salem; ten great nieces and nephews, Simon, Amy, Christy, David, Stephen, and Angela Ingram, Will and Matt Brown, and Alex and Terry Duquemin; extended family, as well as a host of special friends. Also surviving Mr. Jones, is his favorite Shitzu, Abigail. A funeral service will be conducted 2:00 pm Tuesday, October 26, 2010 at College Park Baptist Church with the Rev. Ramon Smith officiating. Burial will follow at Forsyth Memorial Park. The family will receive friends from 12:30 pm - 1:45 pm, Tuesday, prior to the service, at the church.
