Larry Eugene Jones

LewisvilleMr. Larry Eugene Jones, 74, passed away peacefully Wednesday, August 14, 2013. He was born in Forsyth County to the late Alvis and Pauline Wyatt Jones. In 1958 he graduated from Southwest High School in Clemmons and married Phyllis Marie Pinnix. While employed at R.J. Reynolds Tobacco Co., he completed studies in HVAC at Forsyth Technical Institute. He briefly worked for AC Corporation before pursuing his dream of starting his own business, Jones Mechanical Services, where he enjoyed solving heating and air-conditioning problems. In 1988, he received ""The Gift of Life,"" a kidney transplant affording him 25 more years to enjoy an incredible life. He was an active member in the community. He served as a Past Master for the West Bend A.F. & A.M. 434 Masonic Lodge. He was a longtime member of Concord United Methodist Church. He loved to travel, meet people, and to spend time outdoors. He loved his friends and family and especially home cooked Sunday lunches. He is survived by his wife of 54 years, Phyllis; son, Bryan of West Palm Beach; daughter, Stefanie of the home; a sister, Sheila Lightburn (Theodore); nieces, Rachel Perez (Eric) and Cody Lizotte (Jonathan); a great-niece, Paulina Perez. Funeral services will be held 11:00 AM Friday, August 16, 2013 at Concord United Methodist Church, 8955 Concord Church Road, Lewisville, NC. Burial will follow at the church cemetery. The family will receive friends at a reception following the service. In lieu of flowers, the family request donations be made to the National Kidney Foundation, 4701 Hedgemore Dr. Suite 810 Charlotte, NC 28209-2280. The family wishes to extend thanks to Wake Forest Baptist Medical Center Fourth Floor ICU-4C; Hospice of Winston-Salem and to Dr. Patricia Adams and Dr. Kaishoon Basrai.
