Larry Edward Jones

Mr. Larry Edward Jones, 64, of Winston-Salem, passed away on Monday, August 10, 2015, at Wake Forest Baptist Medical Center. Larry was born on September 17, 1950, in Forsyth County to the late Harry E. and Nelta C. Jones. Larry spent all of his life in the Winston-Salem area. He served in the United States Marine Corp and spent two years in Vietnam where he was a combat hero, earning numerous medals and a purple heart. Upon his return home, he went on to work in many different capacities including selling robotics and insurance; drive a tractor trailer truck, and was a plumber for many years. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his only son, Tye Jones; two sisters, Brenda Jones and Cindy Keys; and one brother-in-law, Danny Gordon. Mr. Jones is survived by his wife of 38 years, Robin Jones; two sisters, Linda Hutchins (Jay) and Diane Gordon; one brother, Fred Jones (Martha); mother-in-law, Arlyn Wilson; two brothers-in-law, Richard Keys and Keith Wilson (Debbie); one brother from another mother, Steve Brunt; his beloved baby dog, Roxy; and numerous nieces, nephews, great-nieces, great-nephews, and many friends. A memorial service will be held at 2:00 pm on Saturday, August 15, 2015, at Hayworth-Miller Silas Creek Chapel with Rev. Lynn Cash officiating. The family will receive friends from 6:00 pm until 8:00 pm on Friday at Hayworth-Miller Silas Creek Chapel. In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorials be made to the VFW Memorial Honor Guard, 4433 Bashavia Dr., Pfafftown, NC 27040.
