Larry Joe Johnson

Mr. Larry Joe Johnson, age 76 passed away Sunday, June 26, 2016 at the Joan and Howard Woltz Hospice Home in Dobson. Mr. Johnson was born in Wayne County, GA July 8, 1939 to James R. Johnson and Lorene Moody Johnson. He was a member of Calvary Baptist Church in King and a retired Navy veteran having served during the Vietnam Conflict. Larry enjoyed spending time with his family and especially with his grandson Mark the joy and pride of his life. In addition to his parents Larry was preceded in death by his wife, Margie Johnson, stepson, Michael Broadway and sister, Daisy Mathis. Larry is survived by his two daughters, Lorene (Tommy) Petrovich and Candy (Rex) Hayes. Two step-daughters, Nancy Davis and Susan (Henry) Chambers. Ten grandchildren, twenty six great-grandchildren and four great-great-grandchildren. Several nieces and nephews. A graveside service will be held Tuesday, June 28, 2016 at 2:00 P.M. at Crestview Memorial Park in Rural Hall by Pastor Tony Helms. Military honors will be conducted by American Legion Post 290 of King. There will be no formal visitation. Memorials may be made to Mountain Valley Hospice, 129 Veterans Drive, Pilot Mountain, NC 27041. Hayworth-Miller Funeral Home in Rural Hall is assisting the Johnson family.
