Larry Lee Cook

Larry Lee Cook, affectionately known by his family as Popi, passed away on June 15, 2017 surrounded by his loving family. He was born on April 18, 1932 to Kenneth T. and Ethel Pegram Cook. Larry graduated from South Fork High School. He retired from RJR Archer after 34 years. On August 31, 1951 he married Nancy Dull and was married to her for over 65 years. Larry and Nancy enjoyed a long retirement and especially enjoyed traveling to Europe, Hawaii and many U.S. states. The most enjoyable of times were spent at the Outer Banks and Emerald Isle fishing every fall with his and Nancy's family. Larry was preceded in death by his parents. He is survived by his wife Nancy; daughter, Beverly Barber (Andy); son Timothy Cook (Susan) and five grandsons; Andrew Barber (Susan), Alex Barber (Julia), Austin Barber, Tyler and Taylor Cook, all who thought their Popi was the greatest Popi ever. He is also survived by three great-grandchildren that he adored, Addison, Noah and Ruby. Larry is also survived by his sister, Brenda Chamelin and her husband, Coy. A memorial service will be held Monday June 19, 2017 at Concord United Methodist Church at 1:00 PM, with Pastor Michael Flack officiating.
