Mr. Larry Wayne Brown, 68, of Mocksville died peacefully at home, Thursday, January 13, 2011 around family after a long battle with Alzheimer's. He was born May 14, 1942 in Davie County to the late Lonnie James and Bertha Jones Brown. Larry was known for his honesty, caring heart, knowledge, humor and wit. He worked all his life as a mechanic and was considered a master of his trade. He was preceded in death by his wife, Betty Feimster Brown; a brother, Lester Brown and a sister, Irene Brown Groce. Surviving is a daughter, Kim Brown Griffith of Mocksville; two sons, Terry Brown of Advance and Shannon Brown of Mocksville; two grandchildren, Josh Griffith of Mocksville and Elizabeth Brown of Advance and two brothers, Dorman Brown and Doyle Brown, both of Mocksville. A funeral service will be held 3:30 p.m. Sunday, January 16, 2011 at Union Chapel United Methodist Church with Chaplain Fred Moretz officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service at the church.
