KERNERSVILLE-Kirk Thomas Jacober, 70, passed away Sunday, March 15, 2015 at Forsyth Medical Center. He was born February 22, 1945 in Oakland Co., MI to the late August Henry and Ruth Alice Newcombe Jacober. Mr. Jacober was a member of the Star of Bethlehem Lutheran Church in Winston Salem. He was a University of Michigan alumni football player, who was coached by Bo Schembechler. Mr. Jacober honorably served the United States in the Air Force and reached the rank of Captain. He also enjoyed coaching and playing softball.
Surviving are his wife, Linda Stumpf Jacober of the home; two daughters, Katryna Marie Jacober, Melissa Jacober Troxler and husband, Greg; two grandchildren, Tessa Marie Troxler and Liam Gregory Troxler; two step-grandchildren Courtney and Alex Troxler; three brothers, Vance August , Keith William, and Craig Walter Jacober; aunts and uncles, June and Bill Essery, and Bill and Mary Ann Newcombe; and numerous nephews and nieces.
A Funeral Service will be conducted at 11:00 a.m., Thursday March 19, 2015 at Hayworth Miller Kernersville Chapel with Pastor Fred Guldberg officiating. Burial will follow in Eastlawn Gardens of Memory in Kernersville. The family will receive friends from 6:00-8:00 p.m. Wednesday, March 18, 2015 at the funeral home.
Higher education was always a priority to Kirk, he expressed his desire to open college funds for his two grandchildren. In lieu of flowers memorials may be made to Edward Jones c/o Tessa and Liam Troxler College Fund, 1231 Eastchester Dr., Suite 107, High Point, NC 27265
