Kenneth "Tommy" Williams

Kenneth Tommy Williams, 70, passed away unexpectedly at his home, Friday, April 24, 2015. He was born November 3, 1944, in Lafayette, IN to Lorene Williams and the late Kenneth Williams. He was a graduate of Purdue University and proudly served his country in the U.S. Air Force during the Vietnam War. After his time serving his country, he became a PGA professional, fulfilling his love for teaching golf. He was the Director of Golf at Edwood Glen in Lafayette and a Squaw Creek Country Club in Youngstown, OH prior to relocating to Winston-Salem in 1982. He joined the staff at Tanglewood Park where he gave thousands of golf lessons. He left Tanglewood to become Director of Golf at Pinetree Country Club in Kernersville where he continued to teach. After Pinetree was sold, Tommy decided to only teach golf and he joined the staff at Country Club Golf on Country Club road where he remained until April 24, 2015. He loved teaching all of his ""students of golf"". Tommy would often say that teaching the game he loved was never work. Tommy also had a deep love for baseball and was a huge fan of the Chicago Cubs. He was a close personal friend of his hero, the late Ernie Banks. Tommy proudly wore the number 14 in honor of Ernie. Tommy is survived by a large and loving family: his wife, Regina West Williams; his mother, Lorene Williams; his stepdaughter, Kendra Hege Gallos (Chris); two grandchildren, Danny and Christian Gallos; one sister, Vicki Rudd (Bruce) of Winston-Salem; two brothers, Greg Williams (Debby) of Jonesborough, TN and Walter Williams (Boggie) of Johnson City, TN; cousins Larry Hutson (Judy) and Susie Hutson of Indiana, as well as several nieces and nephews. In addition to his ""official"" family, Tommy had many other close friends and loved ones who he considered family as well.

A Celebration of Life service will be held at Pinedale Christian Church, 3395 Peters Creek Parkway, Winston Salem, NC 27127, on Tuesday, April 28, 2015, at 6:00 pm with Mr. Larry Hutson and Rev. Gary Byrum officiating. The family will receive friends immediately following the service.
