Kenneth Edward Nichols

Kenneth Edward Nichols, 68, went home to be with the Lord on Jan. 27, 2015. Kenny was born on June 9, 1946 to the late Calvin Coolidge and Daisy Ellen Graham Nichols. He was a graduate of East Forsyth High School where he played baseball and basketball. He went on to play recreational softball for Lawrence Grill and Poindexter Lumber. Kenny was preceded in death by his parents, and a close personal friend, Danny ""Crazyhorse"" Matthews. He is survived by his loving wife of 35 years, Sandra Driver Nichols, of the home; 4 children, Tracy Hester (Billy) of Durham, Jennifer O'Neal (Ryan) of Winston-Salem, Kevin Nichols (Roxanne) of Wallburg, and Angie Jones (Brent) of Winston-Salem; 5 grandchildren whom he loved greatly, Connor and Alex Jones, Nicholas Jones, Madison Hester, and Cameron Nichols; 2 brothers, Rick Nichols (Barbara) of Kernersville, and Donnie Nichols (Bobbi) of Winston-Salem; mother-in-law, Lila P. Driver; and 3 of his closest friends, Frank Myers, Leon Brown, and Dean Haynes. A funeral service will be held at 11:00 am Friday, January 30 at Edgewood Baptist Church with Rev. Richard Odom officiating. Interment will follow at Oaklawn Memorial Gardens. The family will receive friends from 6:00-8:00 pm Thursday, January 29 at Hayworth-Miller Silas Creek Chapel.
