Kenneth McLee Watson, 91, of Clemmons, North Carolina, passed away on December 18, 2023. In addition to his parents, Kenneth was preceded in death by his siblings, Benis, Grady Jr., Donny, Melba, and Geraldine.
He is survived by his loving wife of 71 years, Ruby Watson, and their two children, Ed Watson (Beverly) and Sybil Watson Shumaker. He also leaves behind three granddaughters, Savannah Connolly, Emily Watson, and Whitley Nichelson, and five great-grandsons, Oliver, Felix, Emmitt and August Connolly, and Dean Nichelson; two special brother-in-laws, George Ward and Dale Johnston (Gail) and many nieces, nephews and cousins.
Kenneth served his country faithfully during the Korean War by enlisting in the United States Navy. He married Ruby Johnston, began a family, and founded the Cardinal Building Company, building 87 homes and many small businesses, including both homes he lived in with his family. Upon retirement, Kenneth entered the mission field, where he served our Lord by building and repairing homes and churches throughout the region and internationally, including the countries of Jamaica, Haiti, Puerto Rico, and Mexico.
A beloved member of Clemmons United Methodist Church, Kenneth faithfully served in many leadership roles, including Lay Leader, Lay Delegate to Conference, UMYF Counselor, and the United Methodist Men.
