Kenneth "Peanut" Lawson, 81 passed away on Sunday, February 11, 2018 at his residence. He was born on December 22, 1936 in Forsyth County to George and Edna Stanley Lawson. Ken served in the United States Marine Corps and retired from R.J. Reynolds Tobacco Company with 31 years of service. He was a member of Hickory Ridge United Methodist Church. Ken was preceded in death by his parents; wife, Barbara Kiger Lawson; two brothers, Jimmy and Jerry Lawson. Surviving are one daughter, Sherri Poindexter and husband Scott; granddaughter, Heather Poindexter; grandson, Joseph Poindexter and wife Katie; two great granddaughters, Oakley Mae Poindexter and Bostyn Rose Poindexter; two brothers, Tommy Lawson and Steve Lawson; four sisters, Dorothy Lawson Sally Crouse and husband Carl, Bonnie Newman and husband Ben, Judy Lawson; sister-in-law, Tina Lawson; Aunt, Thelma Taylor; several nieces, nephews, and cousins. A funeral service will be held at 2:00 PM on Thursday, February 15, 2018 at Hickory Ridge United Methodist Church with Rev. Wesley McLeod officiating. Interment will follow at Forsyth Memorial Park. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service at the church. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Hickory Ridge United Methodist Church Cemetery Fund; 6012 Germanton Road, Winston-Salem, NC 27105.
