Kenneth Eugene Nichols, 97, passed away Wednesday, April 9, 2025, at the Kate B. Reynolds Hospice Home. He was born on May 8, 1927, in Forsyth County to the late Roy Walter and Minnie Robertson Nichols. Mr. Nichols was a U.S. Navy Veteran serving during WWII. He retired from both R.J. Reynolds Tobacco Co. and L.A. Reynolds Garden Showcase. Preceding him in death was his first wife, Jerri Nichols; second wife, Judith Ellingham Nichols and a son, Michael Eugene Nichols. Surviving is a son, Gary Nichols (Carol); two daughters, Jennie Hess (Terry) and Katie Hartness; six grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; brother, Charlie Nichols and two sisters, Jean Bustle and Diane Brinkley. Ken was a man of many passions. He was a great athlete in youth, later focusing on golf and winning many local tournaments. He loved to garden and found great pride in keeping up his farm in pristine condition. A funeral service will be held at 1:00 PM Saturday, April 12, 2025, at Union Hill Baptist Church with burial to follow in the church cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Trellis Supportive Care, 101 Hospice Lane Winston-Salem, NC 27103 or to the Triad Honor Flight C/O Alison Huber PO Box 8606 Greensboro, NC 27419. The family would like to send special thanks to his caregiver and friend, Kelly Hinsley, for all the care and support she provided to Mr. Nichols.
