Kenneth Gray Byerly, 66, of Clemmons, passed away Wednesday, June 13, 2018 at his home. Ken was a devoted husband to the late Betty Ball Byerly of 20 years, whom passed away January 29, 2007. She was the love of his life and his pet Missy, whom passed away August 29, 2014. Ken is survived by his close family whom he dearly loved, Jessica, Abigail, Emily and Chris Sheffield of Clemmons; his son and daughter-in-law, Art and Myrna Nifong of Provo, UT; two grandsons, Garrison Nifong of Munster, Germany and Samuel Nifong of Provo, UT; sister-in-law, June Flynn and her families, Ray and Denise Flynn and families, Jeff and Christine Flynn and families; brother-in-law, Larry Ball of Advance. Ken was a member of Yadkin Valley Baptist Church of Advance. Ken was born to Philip and Mildred Williard Byerly on June 28, 1951 in Winston-Salem. He graduated in 1970 from West Forsyth High School and retired from Neilson Water Plant with 39 years of service. He loved traveling with his beloved wife and working was his hobby and love for animals. Also surviving are two special nephews, Seth Higgins and Colby Stroud and several nieces; a special aunt, Alma Mahaffey and daughters. A very special friend and buddy, who is deceased, Mr. E.A. Smith, Jr. A funeral service will be held at 12:00 p.m. Monday, June 18, 2018 at Hayworth-Miller Silas Creek Chapel with Rev. Ronnie Craddock officiating. Interment will follow in Westlawn Gardens of Memory. The family will receive friends one hour before the service.
