Ken Best, 70, passed into the arms of his Savior, Jesus, Monday, March 3, 2025, at his home in Winston Salem, NC.
Being confident of this very thing, that he which hath begun a good work in you will perform it until the day of Jesus Christ. Philippians 1:6

Born June 14, 1954, Ken is the son of the late Harold and Arow Best of Darlington County, SC.
Ken graduated from Hartsville High School in Hartsville, SC, in 1972 where he participated in and grew to love playing tennis and golf. He furthered his studies at Piedmont Bible College in Winston Salem, NC earning a Bachelor of Theology degree in 1983.
Ken served 20 years as a pastor and missionary with Baptist Mid-Missions in church planting and development. He was later the US Director of Fundamental Baptist Missions to Trinidad and Tobago and the West Indies for many years where he was instrumental in starting a Bible College in Trinidad. Most recently, he was a Customer Service rep for Verses Bible app with his son-in-law, Brock.
Ken was a long time lover of photography and videography, collecting and working on electronics, watching almost anything sci-fi with his son (especially Star Trek), cracking really bad dad jokes, studying and discussing scripture and theology, using social media to bring laughs and encourage those he cared about, and engaging in social/political debate.
Ken is preceded in death by his mother and father, his wife, Patty (Edwards) Best and a half-sister, Delores Best.
He is survived by his son, Richard Best (Laura), daughters Sandra Best and Kathryn Klein (Brock) and his brother, Richard Summerford (Linda).
In addition to his son and daughters, he is survived by his four beautiful granddaughters, Emma, Autumn, Saige and Alma whom he loved dearly.
A funeral service for Ken will be conducted at 7:00 pm., Monday, March 10, 2025, At Hayworth & Miller Funeral Home in Winston-Salem, with Pastor Skip Furrow officiating. A private entombment will take place Tuesday, March 11, 2025, in Speedwell, TN. The family will receive friends prior to the service at 6:00 pm at the funeral home.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made in Ken’s name to the Winston-Salem Rescue Mission where he often served.
