Mrs. Kaye Frances Matthews McKaughn, 78, of Winston-Salem, NC, passed away on Sunday, January 14, 2024, at her home. Kaye was born on July 25, 1945, in Yadkin County to the late Mr. James Henry Matthews and Mrs. Pauline Hobson Matthews. She was a very loving person, especially to her family. Kaye was also known for being a wonderful friend to others. One of her most valued activities was playing cards with her closest girlfriends for over 50 years. She also enjoyed being a diener and being a part of the hand bell choir at Olivet Moravian Church. Kaye’s loving heart and warming presence will be missed by all that knew her. Surviving her are her two daughters, Kenzie Cook and Tracy Renegar; two sisters, Jo Ann Stewart Taylor (Jesse), and Patricia Revelle (Bill); five grandchildren, Brandy Martin (Nick), Kyle Renegar (Taylor), Mason Cook, Logan Cook, and Ella Cook; three great-grandchildren, Briggs Martin, Brody Renegar, and Macy Renegar; four nieces, Pandora Gordon (Keith), Kayla Revelle, Karen Wall (Steve), and Allison Bradley (Morgan); a nephew, Darren Stewart (Donna); and one very special friend, Ronnie Reavis. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Kenneth Conrad McKaughn; a son, James “Greg” Gregory McKaughn; and a son-in-law, Richard Renegar. The family will receive friends Sunday, January 28, 2024, from 2:00pm – 4:00pm in the Robert F. Miller Center at Hayworth-Miller Silas Creek Chapel. In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorials be made to Trellis Supportive Care, 101 Hospice Lane, Winston Salem, NC 27103, or the American Cancer Society, P.O. Box 6704, Hagerstown, MD 21741.
