** updated service information **

With Spring being Kay’s favorite time of year, a Celebration of Life will be held at 12:00 p.m. Saturday, April 22, 2023 at Sedge Garden United Methodist Church in the Fellowship Hall.  This will be a time for truly celebrating Kay's life and reflecting on what she meant to each of us. The family encourages anyone with special stories and memories to plan to share those during this time.

Kay Stafford Crews, 87, passed away peacefully on Thursday, December 29, 2022, at her home. Kay was born on July 7, 1935, in Forsyth County to the late John Lewis and Pearl Fields Stafford. Kay retired from Sara Lee with over 25 years of service, starting her career in, then, a male-dominant company, using her love for learning to advance herself in the company. Kay loved watching British comedies, and spending time with her high school friends. In her adventurous days, she was a “Wing Walker” in a local airshow and was always ready for a four-wheeler ride. She was a faithful member of Sedge Garden United Methodist Church, and a devout teacher of the Loyal Wesley Sunday School Class. Kay studied the teachings of the Bible and lived accordingly. She exemplified a life of love for her family and friends. She had a gentle and kind disposition that she shared with everyone she met. Kay always put her kids and family first.

In addition to her parents, Kay was preceded in death by her husband, James Pegg Crews; four sisters, Polly Calhoun (Slim), Dot Tilley (D.T.), Shirley Matthews, and Mae Dillard (Al); three brothers, Don Stafford, Andy Stafford (Mary), and Jake Stafford; and one grandson, Jeremy Brotherton.

Surviving to cherish her memory are her son, Les “Buzz” Crews (Teresa); her daughter, Kelly Larrimore (Johnny); grandchildren, Amanda (Wayne), Jonathan (Layla), Joshua, Jacob (Laura), and Tyler; six great grandchildren, Bailey, Zoey, Kelsey, Elle, Arlo, and Baby Jack.

Memorials may be made to Tunnel to Towers Foundation, 2361 Hylan Boulevard, Staten Island, NY 10306.
