Katy Hauser Grubbs

Mrs. Katy Hauser Grubbs, 96, passed away Monday, October 9, 2023. She was born April 12, 1927, in Forsyth County to the late Robert Lee Hauser and Daisy Transou Hauser. Katy was a devoted Christian, wife, mother, and grandmother. She was a member of UMW for over 75 years where she held every office. She was an active member of the Old Town Woman’s Club – first member to receive the Woman of the Year award. She held every office of the North Carolina General Federation of Women’s Clubs – including State President. She poured her heart and soul into the community, was an advocate for educational reform and strong supporter of providing scholarships to numerous students. Her gift for storytelling and compelling speeches had the remarkable ability to inspire the hearts of many. Katy’s legacy will continue to shine brightly through the lives she touched, the communities she transformed, and the faith she shared. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her loving husband Vance Grubbs, a son; Mark Grubbs, a daughter; Katy Hope Grubbs, and a granddaughter; McKenzie Lea Grubbs. Katy is survived by two children, Melanie Kate Cole, Michael Robert Grubbs (Vanessa), three grandchildren; Heather Michelle Wilson (Dana), Brandon Richard Cole (Sydney), Molley-Kate Grubbs, five great grandchildren; Avery, Eli, Addy, Penelope, and Bennett, two nephews; Leon Leinbach (Carol), and Lawrence Cline (Jane) and numerous cousins. A funeral service will be conducted 2:00 PM Saturday October 14, 2023, at New Hope United Methodist Church with Bro. Brandon Cole officiating. Burial will immediately follow at Pfafftown Christian Church Cemetery. The family will receive friends at the church from 12:30 to 1:45 PM prior to the service.
