Katie White Cockerham

Mrs. Katie White Cockerham, 78, of Winston-Salem died Saturday, January 3, 2009 at Forsyth Medical Center. She was born October 14, 1930 in Surry County, the daughter of the late Winnie Edgar and Alice Freeman White. Mrs. Cockerham was a former member of Westview Baptist Church and was presently a member of Forsyth Park Baptist Church. She was a Registered Nurse and retired from Forsyth Memorial Hospital with over 30 years of service. She was preceded in death by three brothers, Delbert White, Junior White and Roy White and one sister, Ruby Freeman. Survivors include two sons, Bryce S. Cockerham, Jr. and wife, Lea Ann of Augusta, GA and Kevin L. Cockerham and wife, Kathleen of St. Charles, IL; five grandchildren and one brother, Alfred White and wife, Iva Jean of Elkin. A memorial service will be conducted Monday at 4:00 PM at Hayworth-Miller Silas Creek Chapel with Rev. John Krivsky officiating. The family will receive friends following the service at the funeral home. In lieu of flowers memorials may be made to Forsyth Park Baptist Church, 1600 S. Hawthorne road, Winston-Salem, NC 27103.
