Katie Minter Allen

Mrs. Katie Minter Allen, age 100, passed away Monday morning August 10, 2010. Katie was born in Roanoke, VA on April 29, 1910 to the late William and Mary Minter. Katie was an excellent cook, loved gardening, refinished antiques in her spare time and was a seamstress with Hanes Knit Wear. She was a member of Parkway Chapel. Katie is preceded in death by her first husband Heber Hastings; second husband Heber Allen; seven sisters; and two brothers. She is survived by sister Maggie Barnes; and multiple nieces and nephews. A funeral service will be held at 11:00 AM Thursday, August 11, 2010 at Hayworth-Miller Silas Creek Chapel with Pastor Chris Byrne officiating.
