Kathy Bodenheimer King Shore, passed away on July 15, 2017 at home after a courageous battle with cancer. She was surrounded by her loving family and friends. Kathy is survived by her husband, Kenny Shore of the home, one daughter, Kali King Figueroa and husband Esteban of Virginia, one son, Kristofer King of Winston-Salem, three step-children, Hayley Shore of New York, William and David Shore of Raleigh, and one sister, Sharon Hoang and husband Bao of Virginia. Kathy was born and raised in Forsyth County to Walt and Helen Bodenheimer. She attended Ardmore Elementary, Dalton Junior High, Atkins High School, and R.J. Reynolds High School. She also studied ballet at the North Carolina School of the Arts. Kathy began working for Piedmont Airlines in 1979. She moved to Nashville, TN in the early 1980s to help open the local Piedmont Airlines office. She returned to Winston-Salem shortly after and remained with the company as they merged into USAir, USAirways, and eventually American Airlines. Kathy was known for her exemplary work and had a reputation for being compassionate towards passengers in the industry, earning her the Chairman's Award of Excellence. Kathy found great joy in celebrating holidays and special occasions. Her love for tradition was evident in the way she filled her home with decorations and family recipes that included both traditional Southern and Lebanese dishes passed down from her mother. She had impeccable taste and loved to decorate her home and its surroundings. She never left the house without looking stylish and even strangers seemed to gravitate towards her. Her magnetic personality was cherished by all, and at times it has seemed like she knew everyone in Winston-Salem. Her favorite pastimes were traveling, shopping for antiques with her husband, and spending as much time with her children as possible. Kathy was a big music fan, and loved David Bowie, Cat Stevens, The Rolling Stones, The Beatles, Elvis, the list goes on. She was a devoted mother to her two children Kali and Kristofer considering them her greatest joy, growing to love Esteban, her son-in-law also as one of her own. When she and Kenny married in 2010 her family and love grew again adding three step-children to complete her family. Everyone who knew Kathy knew her sweet smile and her strong uplifting nature. She was loved deeply and will be greatly missed.
