Mrs. Kathleen “Kathy” Moss Smith, 92, of Winston-Salem, passed away on Tuesday, November 23, 2021.  Kathy was born in Clay County, NC on January 26, 1929, to the late Crestus Henry Moss and Mattie Ellen Moore Moss.  Kathy graduated from Western Carolina University with a Bachelor’s degree in Elementary Education.  She was a member of the Alpha Delta Kappa Sorority.  While attending school, Kathy met the love of her life, Arthur “Bud” Smith.  They made their home in Winston-Salem and enjoyed 65 wonderful years of marriage until Bud’s death in 2014.  Kathy was a dedicated teacher in the WS/FC School System and trained student teachers from Appalachian State University.  She was a faithful member of College Park Baptist Church where she served in numerous capacities including the adult choir and teaching Sunday School.  In addition to her parents and husband, Kathy was preceded in death by her brother, James Moss and a great-grandson, Bowen Fox.  Kathy is survived by her children, Patrice Priest (Rey), Suzanne Lamb, Amanda Fox (Charlie), and Scott Smith (Rosemary); nine grandchildren, nine great-grandchildren, numerous other loving relatives and a lifelong special friend, Mary K. Charles.  A service to celebrate Kathy’s life will be held at 11:00 am on Monday, November 29, 2021, at College Park Baptist Church with Rev. Ramon Smith officiating.  The family will receive friends following the service at the church.  Hayworth-Miller Silas Creek Chapel is serving the family.
