Kathleen "Kat" Foltz

Kathleen Foltz, 87, of Winston-Salem passed peacefully on September 12th, with her family by her side following a brief and unexpected diagnosis of cancer. She was an active member of Friedberg Moravian Church. Kathleen was a graduate of Griffith High School. She married the love of her life, Hubert Foltz, her husband of 65 years, on August 16th, 1950. She was employed by JCPenney until the birth of her children, at which time she became a full-time homemaker. Kathleen was a mother to two daughters, Dianne (spouse Wayne Wood) of Lexington, and Rita (spouse Wayne Mabe), of Walkertown.
Kathleen was preceded in death by her parents, George and Ruby Boyer, a brother, George ""June"" Boyer, and a sister, Shirley, who died as an infant. She leaves behind her spouse, Hubert, and daughters, along with a granddaughter, Randi Carrick of Walkertown, and two grandsons, Jason Wood of Winston-Salem, and Justin Wood of Seattle, WA. Kathleen was especially proud of and enjoyed her five great-grandchildren, Cayden and Noah Caldwell, and Natalie, Jonathan, and Tyler Wood.
Until just prior to her death, Kathleen remained active in her church, and participated in senior groups at Friedberg Moravian, Grace Baptist, and Hopewell Moravian, in addition to her weekly water aerobics class at Salemtowne.

A funeral service will be held on Monday, September 14th, at 4:00 p.m., at Friedberg Moravian Church, 2178 Friedberg Church Road, Winston-Salem, with the family receiving friends in the Friedberg Family Life Center immediately following. The Reverend James C. Newsome, Jr., and the Reverend Dan K. Nelson will be officiating.

Memorials may be made to Friedberg Moravian Church or Gideons International. The family wishes to thank everyone who cared for her, called, prayed and visited during her illness.
