Kathleen Hanes Denton

Mrs. Kathleen Hanes Denton, 82, of Winston-Salem, passed away on Friday, August 8, 2008 at Forsyth Medical Center. She was born in Davie County on January 12, 1926. Mrs. Denton was an active member of Canaan United Methodist Church. She was a certified ceramic artist and loved card making. She was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother and sister. Mrs. Denton was preceded in death by her husband, Wade F. Denton and her mother, Catherine Walker Hanes. She is survived by four children, Frank Denton and wife Gayle, Jean Simmons, Bob Denton and wife Brenda, Janice Yontz; 6 grandchildren, Donnie, Danny and David Simmons, Rev. Rodney Denton, Anita Norman, and Elizabeth Denton; 13 great-grandchildren and 2 sisters, Jeanette Peace and her husband George and Janet Dunnaway. A funeral service will be conducted at 11:00 AM Monday, August 11, 2008 at Canaan United Methodist Church with the Pastor Chuck Ireson officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. The family will receive friends from 6-8 PM Sunday at Hayworth-Miller Silas Creek Chapel. In lieu of flowers memorials may be made to Canaan United Methodist Church Scholarship Fund or Building Fund, 1760 Shady Grove Church Road, Winston-Salem, NC 27107.
