Winston-Salem- Katherine Elizabeth Whicker Linville (92) passed away peacefully at her home on February 15, 2021.  She was born in Forsyth County on April 9, 1928 to the late Noah Lester Whicker and Irma Elizabeth Sell Whicker. She graduated from Walkertown High School, Class of 1946.  Later that fall on October 5th she married her sweetheart, Dewey M. Linville.  She was a loving Wife, Mother, Mother-in-law and Mamaw. She loved her family dearly and her Grands and Greats always made her smile. They could do no wrong in her eyes.

Katherine was a lifelong member of Oak Grove Moravian Church where she was a member of the Margaret Hammock Sunday School Class and Circle #1. She sang in the choir from 1940 – 1945. She loved singing to the grandchildren as she rocked them to sleep. Some of her favorite hymns were “This is My Father’s World” and “Jesus Makes My Heart Rejoice”. She was a wonderful cook and enjoyed cooking for her family and taking meals to the sick and shut-ins at church. She also enjoyed the beach and sewing blankets for all the babies in her life.

Katherine was preceded in death by her husband of 54 years, Dewey M. Linville, Sr., parents, Noah Lester and Irma Sell Whicker, son-in-law, Tom Dunn and daughter-in-law, Dianne Linville. She is survived by her five children:  Dewey Linville (Becky), Beth Dunn, Ann Mecum (Philip), Eric Linville (Anita) and Sally Linville (Cathey Barber). Five Grandchildren:  Jason Mecum (Lee), Benjamin Dunn (Billie), Patrick Linville (Carrie), Erica Linville Bryant (James) and Sara Mecum Wood (Michael). Twelve Great Grandchildren: Makenzie Bryant, Lily Linville, Hayden Bryant, Raegan Bryant, Noah Linville, Olivia Dunn, Jamie Wood, Linea Linville, Bubba Bryant, Eliza Wood, Laurel Linville and Colton Bryant.

A graveside service will be held at Oak Grove Moravian Church on Monday, February 22nd at 11:00 a.m. with Pastor David Berrier officiating.  Her thoughts were, “I have already preached my funeral by the LIFE I’ve LIVED”!
