Mrs. Katharine Shoffner Coffey, 85, of Winston-Salem died May 13, 2009 after a brief illness at the Wake Forest University Baptist Medical Center. She was born in Forsyth County September 24, 1923 to the late Tinnie Mae and John Floyd Shoffner. She was preceded in death by her loving husband of 50 years, John Francis Coffey and her sister Mary Shoffner Knight. Mrs. Coffey is survived by her loving daughters, Mary Ann Coffey of the home, Phyllis Miller and husband Joe of Wilmington, and Alice Coffey of Nags Head; and her grandsons, Shannon and Jacob Miller of Wilmington. Mrs. Coffey was retired from Western Electric and a member of the Pioneers of America. She was a member of New Philadelphia Moravian Church. She was an avid basketball fan and a member of the Demon Deacon Club. A graveside service will be conducted at 11:00 a.m. Saturday, May 16 at Westlawn Gardens of Memory with Dr. Worth Green officiating. The family will receive friends from 6-8 p.m. Friday at Hayworth-Miller Silas Creek Chapel.
