Kate Della Peacock Davis, 98, of Winston-Salem, died April 1, 2014. She was born August 31, 1915 in Forsyth County to the late Robah Elisha Peacock, and Ada Victoria Whitfield Peacock. Kate was the last surviving member of a family of twelve brothers and sisters. Preceding her in death was her devoted husband, the Rev. Kenneth William Davis. Surviving are her children, Marjorie F. Lanier (William), Joseph W. Davis (Wanda), and Marilyn J. Trapani; six grandchildren, Gina VonderBorn (Al), J.D. Lanier (Stacey), John Quenton Lanier (Jacquie), Eric W. Davis, Stacie Jo Novotny (Joel), Dale P. Smith (Cindy), and several great grandchildren. Kate faithfully followed her husband as he served churches in Kentucky, Virginia, and North Carolina districts of the Wesleyan Church. She was the oldest member of Christ Wesleyan Church and attended as long as she was able. She loved tending to her flowers and gardening. She was a member of the West Salem Civic Club and retired from AT&T with 25 years of service in 1980. Visitation will be on Friday, April 4 from 5-7 p.m. at Hayworth-Miller Silas Creek Chapel. A celebration of life graveside service will be conducted by the Dr. Rusty Sieck on Saturday, April 5, 2014 at Parklawn Memorial Park at 1:00 p.m. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Christ Wesleyan Church, 2390 Union Cross Road, Winston-Salem, NC 27107.
