Karl C. DeKeyser

Mr. Karl C. DeKeyser, 88, of Advance passed away Thursday, October 11, 2012 at Bermuda Commons Nursing and Rehab. Mr. DeKeyser was born in Detroit, MI on August 18, 1924 to Raymond and Eleanora DeGraeve DeKeyser. He was a veteran of the United States Navy serving during World War II. Mr. DeKeyser was a longtime member of the Knights of Columbus and served on the VanDyke Public School Board of Education in Warren, Michigan for 18 years. He was an avid golfer who truly enjoyed the game. Mr. DeKeyser was preceded in death by two daughters-in-law, Veronica and Sandra DeKeyser. He is survived by his loving wife of 64 years, Sylvia Lickar DeKeyser; two daughters, Gail Oswald and husband Robert of Troy, MI, and Jan Allison and husband, Craig of Advance; two sons, Kurt DeKeyser of Onawa, Iowa, and Glen DeKeyser and wife Beth of Traveler's Rest, SC; six grandchildren; several great grandchildren; and a brother, George DeKeyser of Clinton Township, MI. A memorial service will be conducted 7:00 pm Monday, October 15, 2012 at Hayworth-Miller Kinderton Chapel. The family will receive friends from 5 pm to 7 pm, prior to the service, at the funeral home.
