Karen Denise Woodliff

Karen Denise Woodliff, 48, of Pfafftown passed away Tuesday, December 14, 2010 at Wake Forest University Baptist Medical Center. She was born September 24, 1962 in Forsyth County to Bobby Herman and Sarah E. Lowry Woodliff. Ms. Woodliff was a member of Pine Chapel Moravian Church where she was known as the ""candy lady"". She was employed by Kaba Ilco up until her health deteriorated. She was an avid reader, and enjoyed spending time with friends and family. She lived at the Belo Home in Old Salem where she enjoyed taking the residents shopping and running errands. She battled cancer for a year, always with a smile and encouraging other people. She was preceded in death by her parents. Surviving are two sisters, Brenda Angell and husband Ken of Fayetteville and Stephanie Nelson and husband Tom of Pfafftown; two brothers, Wayne Lowry of Pembrook and Todd Woodliff and friend Kathy of Lewisville; two nieces, Jessica Nelson of Winston-Salem, Alicia Nelson of Pfafftown; one nephew, Grover Taylor IV of Fayetteville; aunts and uncles, Jacqueline L. Glass of Pembroke, Altha L. Whitehead of Trinity, Alvin M. Lowry of Festus, MO, Jo Ellen L. Worrell, of Pembroke, Elaine L. Strickler of Mt. Holly, Eleanor L. Otten of Pembroke, H. Richard Lowry of Winston-Salem and William A. Lowry of Pembroke. Funeral services will be held at 1:00 p.m. Saturday at Pine Chapel Moravian Church with Pastor James Demby and Pastor Tim Sapp officiating. The family will receive friends at the church one hour prior to the service, and a reception in the fellowship hall following the service. A graveside service will be held at 3:00 p.m. Sunday at Lowry Field Family Cemetery in Robeson County. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Pine Chapel Moravian Church, 324 Goldfloss St., Winston-Salem, NC 27127. A special thank you to the staff of Wake Forest University Baptist Medical Center, especially the 11th floor ENT Unit and Palliative Care Unit, Ardmore Tower, and the 10th floor Women's Health, Reynolds Tower.
