Mrs. Karen Denise Padgett Taylor, 70, of Pfafftown, passed away unexpectedly at her home on Monday, April 26, 2021. She was born in Soddy-Daisy, TN on January 12, 1951, to the late Gilmer and Loraine Wilson Padgett. Karen spent her life serving her Lord by serving her community. Karen touched countless lives in serving her community for 27 years through community missions with Pilot Mountain Baptist Association.  Karen was a member of West Side Baptist, but cared deeply for all the congregations in the association.  Her favorite ministries included the Annual Toy Store at Christmas for needy children, the State Fair Ministry for the workers, the Prison Ministry and the Missionary House Ministry.

In addition to her parents, Karen is preceded in death by her sisters, Betty Hooks and Cheryl Brooks. Surviving is her husband, Jerry Taylor; four children: Susan Hood (John), Mark Taylor (Kari), Stephanie Taylor, and Krista Hopkins (Tim); seven grandchildren: Thomas and Phoenix Hood, Chelsea and Christopher Taylor, Tyson Johnson, Paul Miller, and Scott Hopkins; beloved recipient of her care, Noah Hooks; two sisters, Sandra Elliot and Beverly Stevens; and a brother, Gilmer Thomas Padgett, Jr.

A celebration of life for Karen will be held at College Park Baptist Church on Saturday, May 1, 2021, at 2:00 p.m., officiated by Rev. Ramon Smith, Rev. Christa Warise, Rev. Will Watson, and Rev. Don Harvey. Please wear masks and use social distancing. Memorials may be given to ABC of NC, 905 Friedberg Church Road, Winston-Salem, NC 27127.
