Karen Starling

Mrs. Karen Marie Kiger Starling, 75, passed away Wednesday, January 6, 2021, at Wake Forest Baptist Hospital.  She was born December 31, 1945, in Forsyth County to the late Rufus Arthur Kiger and Doris Ella Owen Kiger.  Mrs. Starling was a faithful and devoted member of Bethany Baptist Church.  She retired from U.S. Air.  In addition to her parents, Mrs. Starling was preceded in death by two sisters, Mary West and Peggy Newsome; and three brothers: Clarence, Paul, and Thomas Kiger.  She is survived by her loving husband, Ronald O. Starling; daughter, Lisa Starling Haffner (Michael); son, Chris Starling (Rachel); four grandchildren: Tiffany Roberts (Damon), Kenadi Burford, Silas Starling, and Jonah Starling; one great-grandson, Dexter Roberts; sister, Helen Patterson; brothers, Bill Kiger (Carolyn) and Edward Kiger; sisters-in-law, Geraldine Marsh and Brigitte Kiger; and an abundance of cherished nieces, nephews, and friends.  A funeral service will be conducted 2:00 PM Monday, January 11, at Bethany Baptist Church with Dr. Brad Stamey and the Rev. Brian Alverson officiating.  Burial will follow at Crestview Memorial Park.  The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service from 1:00 to 1:45 PM.  In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Bethany Baptist Church, 600 Old Hollow Road, Winston-Salem, NC 27105 or to a charity of the donor’s choice.
