Karen Michele Giles

Karen Giles, age 58 passed away unexpectedly February 13, 2016. She was born to Betty Jean and Michael Pelech on July 31, 1957 in Salisbury, NC. The family moved to Winston-Salem shortly after Karen was born. She graduated from R.J. Reynolds High School in 1975. After graduating high school she became the third generation of her family to attend Catawba College and graduated in 1979. She went to work at Carolina Insurance in 1979. Karen worked from entry level up to Vice President as a commercial underwriter when it was sold to the Strickland Insurance Group a few years ago. She went to work with Strickland and continued serving as an underwriter. Karen was a wonderful loving Mother and Wife that always encouraged others to work hard to fulfill their dreams. She was preceded in death by her parents. Surviving are her husband of 30 years Alan; her adoring daughter and light of her life, Kelly; sister, Kim Pelech of Columbia, MD; and brother, Kevin Pelech of Wilmington, NC. The family will be receiving friends on Wednesday, February 17, 2016 from 6:00-8:00PM at Hayworth-Miller Silas Creek Chapel.
