K. Z. Thompson, Jr

Mr. K.Z Thompson, Jr., 81 of Winston-Salem, NC went home to be with the Lord Tuesday, March 17, 2009 at Forsyth Medical Center. Mr. Thompson was born October 8, 1927 in Stanley County, NC to the Late Zeb and Della Thompson. He was a member of Woodland Baptist Church and was a US Navy Veteran of WWII and the Korean Conflict. Mr. Thompson worked a foreman for Alword Construction Co. in New Jersey and was a barber for 15 years at Polo and Cherry Barber Shop in Winston-Salem. He was retired from RJR Tobacco Company, where he was a sheet metal worker. Mr. Thompson loved to play golf and to take trips with his children and grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents, four brothers and a sister. Surviving to cherish his memory is his wife of 58 years, Rachel Bullock Thompson of the home; two sons; Shane Thompson and Kim Thompson, two grandchildren; Brandy Spainhour and husband, (Chad), Eric Thompson also; two great grandchildren; Brent Thompson and Kaylin Spainhour, a sister; Louise Clark and a number of nieces and nephews. The Family will receive friends from 7-9:00 pm Thursday, March 19, 2009 at Hayworth-Miller Silas Creek Chapel. The Funeral Service will be conducted 11:00 am Friday, March 20 at Woodland Baptist Church officiated by Rev. Tim Gammons, Rev. Zeno Groce and Don Walker Burial will follow in the Forsyth Memorial Park. Memorials may be made to Woodland Baptist Church, Building Fund, 3665 Patterson Ave,Winston Salem, NC 27105.
