June Spence

Mrs. June Dunlap Spence, 84, of Winston-Salem, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, August 25, 2021.

June was born May 4, 1937, in Forsyth County to Rasley and Violet Dunlap.  She was a loyal member of Konnoak Baptist Church and also an avid mall walker, making many friends at both of those places.  June loved to read, and her friends at the Southside Branch Library would bring books to her home when she was unable to travel.  In addition to her parents, June was preceded in death by her husband, Eddie Spence; sisters, Mary Stone and Betty Starkey; and brothers, Dennis Dunlap, Donald Dunlap, Billy Dunlap, and Jerry Dunlap.

June is survived by her son, Vernon Spence and wife Krista; sisters, Peggy Burton and Patricia Miller; and several nieces and nephews.

A graveside service will be held Friday, August 27, 2021, at 11 AM at Forsyth Memorial Park with Rev. John Bishop officiating.

In honor of June’s life as a 30-year kidney transplant recipient, the family asks in lieu of flowers that memorial donations be made to The National Kidney Foundation, Finance Dept., 30 East 33rd Street, New York, NY, 10016.
