Mr. Julius Ray Adams, 78, passed Tuesday, September 29, 2009 at the Kate B. Reynolds Hospice Home. He was born in Yadkin County on October 23, 1930 to the late Thomas and Lucinda McCollum Adams. He was a member of Heritage Hills Baptist Church, where he also sang in the choir. Ray retired from Briggs & Schaffner as a machinist. He loved the outdoors and working with his hands, especially doing carpentry work. He is survived by his wife Fannie L. Adams of 58 years; a daughter Diane Adams; a son Ray L. Adams; two grandchildren Selena Jakovec and Star Blackwell; three great-granchildren, Jake, Austin, and Shelby; two sisters Jean Tuttle and Jane Coley; and three brothers Howard Adams, Alvin Adams, and Robert Adams. A funeral service will be held at 2:00 PM Friday, October 2, 2009 at Hayworth Miller Silas Creek Chapel with Rev. Jennings O'Neil officiating. Burial will follow at Oaklawn Memorial Gardens. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service. The family would like to send a special thanks to Hospice for the wonderful care and support they gave to Mr. Adams.
