Julia Henderson 'Juey' Wells

KERNERSVILLE - Julia Henderson 'Juey' Wells, 88, died Saturday, April 14, 2012, at the Lutheran Home with her family by her side. Juey was born February 3, 1924 in Griffin, Georgia to the late James Henderson Wells and Iris 'BeeBee' Westmoreland Merritt. She was a 1943 graduate of Kernersville High School and a member of Cherry Street United Methodist Church. Juey spent her adult life caring for her family, as a sister, daughter, aunt and nanny. The love she shared was equally returned to her by her family and friends! She had a kindred spirit that was reflected to everyone she met. In addition to her parents, Juey was preceded in death by a brother-in-law, Herb Swaim, Sr. and a nephew, Jeff Wells. Surviving are her sister, Carolyn Swaim, of Kernersville; a brother, Robert Wells (Brenda) of Charleston, SC; two nieces, Jeanie Stanley (Don) of Greenville, NC and Suzanne Atkins (Wesley) of Greensboro; two nephews, Barry Swaim (Lisa) and Herb Swaim, Jr. (Nancy) both of Kernersville; half brother, Rick Wells (Alysia) of Kernersville; and several great nieces and nephews. A funeral service will be held at 2:00 pm Tuesday, April 17, 2012 at Hayworth-Miller Kernersville Chapel. Burial will follow at Mt. Gur Cemetery. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service at the funeral home. Juey, at age 5, benefitted greatly from the services provided to children by the Shriners Children Hospital.
