Mrs. Julia Thomas Nance, age 90, passed away on Monday, July 14, 2014 at Rose Tara Plantation in King. She was born July 5, 1924 in Stokes County to the late Walter Aaron Thomas and Pearl Emma Wilson Thomas. Mrs. Nance was retired from Hanes Hosiery and was a member of Trinity United Methodist Church. Julia was a caring and very giving person who was always ready to help anyone, especially her family.

In addition to her parents, Mrs. Nance was preceded in death by her husband, James Herbert Nance; three brothers: Winkie, Jason and David Thomas; one sister, Georgia Spillman; and one niece, Lori Douglas. She is survived by three sisters-in-law: Annie Ruth Thomas, Betty S. Thomas, and Willie Thomas. She is also survived by several nieces and nephews.

A graveside service will be conducted 2:00 p.m. Thursday, July 17, 2014 at Trinity United Methodist Church Cemetery in King, NC with the Dr. Bart Milleson officiating. There will be no formal visitation.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to: Mt. Valley Hospice, 401 Technology Lane, Mt. Airy, NC 27030 or Trinity United Methodist Church, 725 West Dalton Road, King, NC 27021.

The family would like to extend a special thanks to Mt. Valley Hospice, especially Janice and Shea, for their support during Julia's illness.
